Good Cop Bad Cop

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I had flagged down Mike, one of the maintenance guys here at Goodman manufacturing. My trailer was empty and I needed to do a small repair. But I needed a clamp. I got some plastic tap from Joe in the welding shop, but I really needed something stronger.

My tractors drivers side fender was falling on the tires!  The front brace was broken near the frame.  Mike drives up and I asked him if he had anything better, like a clamp. He said he's going to look for some duct tape. So we drove off for about 10 minutes and came back with really wide black tape. Mike is a retired cop. Sometimes he can be a crooked cop; sometimes he can be helpful.

So I wrapped it real good with the red plastic tape. Then wrapped over that with the wide black tape that kind of resembled duct tape. It's going to be pretty strong when I left Goodman manufacturing. I knew I had seventy miles to go till I got to the shop.

I started going down the road and watched the fender the whole time I was going back to the yard! It stayed solid as a rock. The whole 75 mi even though the truck was bouncing around the fender stayed straight and the tape held. Well I got to the yard we had to cut the tape off just to look at where the break was located.

A lot of times the trucking industry you just have to, do what you got to do; to get to a truck stop, a shop or back to the yard. You always want to have a good roll of sturdy tape to tape up air lines, parts, or anything else to get you down the road temporarily.
