To Close For Comfort

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

About thirty-five years ago I was driving a large eighteen-wheel truck, long distance, over the road. I was traveling eastbound on interstate 90 through the Keystone Pass in the high mountain country of Montana.

It was in the middle of a snowstorm and the snow covered the road, and drifts were about eight to nine feet high on the sides of the roads. The interstate was completely covered, and I was the only one out there on the Keystone Pass.

As I was driving through the pass, I looked down and saw the snow up to the bottom of my truck! I got a little nervous at that point, stopped and got out and looked. It was in the middle of the night and the snow was very heavy. But there was no wind and the winter scene was very beautiful!

I looked under the truck and saw that the snow was up to the frame of the vehicle. I knew at that point things were too close for comfort. If I stayed too long I would be snowed in for days on top of the Keystone Pass!

So I quickly got back in the truck and started moving. I drove another ten miles, and started my descent from the Pass. With only my headlights in the pitch blackness of the forest of the mountains, I made my way through the white path through the forest. I could only tell where the road was by the clearing in the forest and the snow markers on the side of the road! The road were very icy and snowy, but I finally made it down out of the mountains.

When I saw a large truck stop in Missoula, Montana, that was a very beautiful sight! I pulled my rig in there for the night. I was very happy to get out of the mountains, just in time before I was snowed in and trapped!
