The Hawk In A Box

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I just hooked up my first load of day with "Jeff the maintenance guy" assisting me. He's always really good about putting those heavy hoses on my trailer so I don't put too much pressure on my knees!

We hooked up and brisk 37° outside. Nice thick air to breathe. So it just kind of stood outside and talked about the morning activities here at the plant. He had mentioned earlier that it was a busy morning.

He said he was busy that morning because he had to catch a hawk inside the plant. There was a red hawk in the plant with a broken wing, and could not fly anymore. So he said he took off his shirt to use as a net and caught him, and put him in a large cardboard box.

He took the hawk in a box and took it to the maintenance supervisors office. They called the county animal control and they sent somebody over to pick him up. They specified that they should not give it  food or water. Probably because you don't want to give a wild hawk something it doesn't normally eat and will make him sick.

So he just show me a picture of the hawk and mentioned that a couple of the maintenance guys want to take him home as a pet. But they found out that taking a bird of prey as a pet is illegal. Why that's illegal I don't know, maybe for safety reasons.

When I returned on my second load Jeff said that the wildlife folks were there and they did take the red hawk with them. Hopefully they can heal it's broken wings and let him fly off to live out his life again.

Have you ever seen a live red hawk before? If you have can you tell us about it in the comment section? If you enjoy these story you can click on the "follow" button to catch all future stories from this blog.
