Offshore Oil Rigs

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I had a trainee today who spent a lot of time in his last career on offshore oil rigs. He said being on offshore oil rig pays a lot of money, but you have to be out there for thirty or forty days at a time! That's a long time away from your friends and family!

He said the first time he went out to an offshore oil rig they warned him not to get lost. He didn't believe that he could get lost, but on their first day, him and his friend were trying to get somewhere, and they did get lost and needed help getting their way out. They had to call on the radio that they were lost!

Those oil rigs are very, very large, and you can get lost! He also told me they fed him very well there. There's plenty of food, and the food is always the best around. Shrimp, lobster, steak on demand, twenty-four hours a day!

He worked in the oil field business for a while, then decided to get out, since he was away from home too long. When you go on a offshore rig, you got to stay out at least thirty days. Some rigs are hundreds of miles out to sea, and transportation is sparse. They do have internet service, and he can make all the zoom calls you want, or FaceTime your family and friends. But of course that's just not the same as being home.

Have you ever worked on an offshore oil rig? If you have can you tell us about it in the comment section? If you enjoyed this story, or would like to catch future stories, you can just click on the "follow" button at the top of the page.
