No Fittings!

Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!

I came in a little early this morning because I was off from work the last five days. I dropped the trailer Tuesday afternoon because someone else would work for me Wednesday. I found out it was Daniel the Dummy! My relief driver.

I eventually found the trailer. The loaded trailer was dropped on asphalt, which is not where it's supposed to have been. All loaded trailers need to be dropped on the concrete, due to the extreme weight. So I hooked up and pulled around to the office. I got to the office and got my paperwork, but no fittings!

For my dedicated run hauling Freon, I needed special fittings to unload the trailer. I jumped the counter and looked around the office, but could not find the fittings anywhere! So I went to the cabinet, and inside is a gray plastic container, and got my spare fittings out. They are a little old and worn but still usable.

So I got my coffee and I hit the road to Waller, Texas, to make my delivery for the day. I got the plant, drove to the tank, and hooked up my lines. Then the fitting for the product line started leaking really bad! I use two specialized fittings; one on the product line, and one on the vent line.

I tried to tighten it as tight as I could, but it kept leaking. Onyx, the shift lead man, a young plump Hispanic man, took it to tighten it with two pipe wrenches. Onyx brought it back, I hooked it up and it still leaked! By that time Bob had showed up. Bob is a sixty-five year old immigrant from British Guyana, South America. Nowadays, it's just called Guyana.

Bob says,  "Hey Bill, let me take them to the shop inside where they can re-thread the part that's leaking. Well, he took both of them to the shop inside, in the meantime Onyx had made new fittings.   I put on the plant's new fittings and they didn't leak!

So we started offloading. "Daniel the Dummy" who forgot to turn in my fittings is making my morning a little difficult. Hopefully he'll turn in my fittings today sometime. Bob came by after I finish offloading and said that they haven't got to my fittings, and said I can pick it up tomorrow.

You can read more stories about Daniel the Dummy in the post titled "Daniel the Dummy." Daniel is my relief driver but he continues to drop loaded trailers on asphalt. Next summer they may have to get a crane to lift a trailer off the asphalt!
