Pump Blowout!

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I had just got started offloading and I walked to the bathroom to relate myself and you have a couple of bottles of water for me in my home driver. My screwdriver yesterday and today was a middle-aged black man named Jeremiah Stewart.

Jeremiah Stewart is an African-American in his fifties. He has eight children and six grandchildren!  He was a real nice guy but not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I left Jeremiah in charge while I walk back to use the restroom. I take care of my business and grab a couple of bottles of water start walking back to the truck.  I look over at the unloading area because I hear a hissing noise. And I see that pump belling out Freon everywhere! The actual pump leaking is depicted in the above picture!

Jeff is standing there at the control panel, because we are splitting the tank, because our Freon levels are a bit high. He doesn't see the pumps spewing out Freon. So I yell at him and point towards the pump. Jeff is looking around because he still doesn't see it. I yell at him again and point towards the pump again.

Finally he just starts walking towards my way. When he gets about twenty feet from the pump he sees the pump spraying out Freon everywhere. So it gets on the radio right away. And they do what they always do, they call for Bob to bail them out.

I walk over take the picture that's in this blog. Then Jeff and I isolate the pump so that Freon will stop leaking. We isolated the pump by closing the valves around it, to keep Freon away from the pump. Freon sprays out by evaporates in the air right away. If I love liquid trips out it pulls up in ice. The ice then slowly evaporates away.

In a few minutes about four maintenance guys show up and see our excitement. Bob immediately sets out to find one of their pump rebuild kits. They do find one, and the next morning they are rebuilding the pump. It's always good to have some spare rebuilt kits, for the things that you really need!
