I was unloading my first load of the day, Bob noticed a crack in my bumper. This chassis has a very strong heavy duty metal bumper, And one of the welds cracked! Bob is a very outspoken man in his early sixties. He is an immigrant from British Guyana in South America.

So I called dispatch to tell him I was going to get it repaired. Cole Nelson is my dispatcher. He said I trust your judgment just get fixed anywhere around there. It's nice when people show you a little respect!
So I decided to drive to Hempstead Texas. Barry's fleet service is there. It's about twenty miles northwest from Waller, Texas, along Hwy 290. I drove up there and saw they were very busy. They decided not to do it. They said they couldn't do it, I think they're just too busy, I didn't want to bother with such a small job.
So they recommended Klein Fabricating in Hockley, Texas. Which was nice because that's the same area where I need to go to pick up my second load anyway! I drove down there and saw the shop. I passed that shop before, and I knew it was there, but I didn't know exactly what he did there.
An old man was running the shop, and he said he does nothing but small jobs. He says he just likes to help common people out with their small problems. So I asked him if he could do some welding on my chassis.
He said he can weld from up top, but he's just too old and can't weld from the bottom anymore. He said that he was too old to be crawling under things! I said that's no problem, it's on top. So we walked over and looked at it. He says, "yeah I think I could weld that." He ask me to back it into that first bay.

He first had to look, and read the placard sign! He said he hasn't seen placard signs in thirty-eight years! So I backed the truck up into that first bay. The mosquitoes were something fierce. It had been raining for a week and now all the mosquitoes were out!
The old man welded up the bumper, I was in and out in about thirty minutes. While he was cleaning up, he said again, "I like to do the small jobs, because I like this to help people out who are in trouble.". I called Adam and Cole and text them the bill. They work for my company. He only charged thirty dollars, which made Cole, my dispatcher very happy!
