Hello everyone,. Praise the Lord!
I was sitting in the driver's room, sitting at one of the round desks, writing up some paperwork. In comes one of our long-time drivers through the door.. His name is John, I don't quite remember what his last name is, but it doesn't really matter. I call him "Creepy John!"
He is a short thin black man. He's middle-aged and prides himself on being a "black cowboy." He is married to a white lady, but he doesn't seem to like white folks too much. He always wears really nice cowboy boots, with his pants tucked inside the boots. But he has a very, very, odd personality.
Most of the time he doesn't talk to me. I will say hello to him, and he doesn't even acknowledge my existence. He will just walk on by. Once in a blue moon he will says a few words, but you can tell he really tries to avoid it.
A long time ago I asked him why he hadn't talked to me in years. He said that I had made some comments about him to someone else! I don't remember what the comment was, it was a negative comment of some sort.. I told him I don't remember making such a comment, And I don't think that I did.
Regardless, I did apologize for making those comment, Even though I'm very certain I did not. He seemed to accept my apology, and for a while he would make short comments to me. But those were still rare. Now he's back to not talking to me anymore.
I think I will stop caring. He's not somebody I really need to talk to anyway! And whenever he's in need, he seems to change his attitude. Last summer he was in need of something and he's began to talk to me in a civil tone. He needed some placards for his trailer, and asked if I had any. I looked in my passenger driver door where I keep extra placards, but I did not have the ones he needed.
There's some people you can never have a good relationship with. Maybe he's bipolar, Maybe he has some type of other personality dysfunction. Regardless, I made a very strong effort to repair a relationship. But some things you just can't fix. Sometimes it's just better to walk away and leave it alone. That's what I'll do with Creepy John!
