Hello everyone. Praise the Lord.
I got at the yard at my usual time and got to see Ronald Martin, and Andre Wheeler, in the driver's room as I made my coffee for the day. Both guys are very entertaining to talk to, and I always enjoy it.
I got to the plant at my usual time at seven in the morning the plant is in Waller, Texas about 75 mi from my yard. Dawn had just broken over the horizon.
I hook up and get the pump going, everything seemed fine at first and then I walked back to the truck. After a few minutes Mike walks up and said I need to shut everything down we have a problem.
I walk over to the pump and see that the pop is blowing out freon all over ground!
It's a very strong stream of freon coming out, thankfully it was blowing straight down!
If it was blowing up it would have gotten everywhere!
Freon is a clear liquid inside the pipe or tank. But once it gets out it instantly turns to ice. If you get it on your skin it can very quickly give you frostbite!
So I walk over and shut all my valves going towards the pump. Mike calls Bob, our main maintenance man. He looks at it and says a seal is broken inside the pump. Zach Malone, our Junior maintenance man gets on it right away.
Anything that has to do with freon as priority because when the freon runs dry or stops going to the factory the entire factory stops! No freon means that no air conditioners will be made in the factory!
I didn't turn out to be a problem for me since the up my product and the other tank. The other tank was almost full but they opened up the bypass, so that when I pumped in the full tank with the factory didn't use went to the other tank.
I only had one loaf that day anyway so I finished offload and then went across the street and got my load for tomorrow. It just goes to show that any moments something like that can't happen, and you must be prepared for it!
