Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!
I arrived on the yard at four in the morning and several of the guys were there hanging out. Andre Wheeler and a few others. My trainee was at the first table looking over his paperwork. He is a thirty-year-old fat African-American man named Brandon Clark.
I make some coffee and I have him sign in at the table where he was sitting. I get my coffee and paperwork and tell him that we need to go. The truck is parked right outside. I walk and open the passenger door to get in. He is standing behind me! I look around and see him there just looking at me.
I give him a look like, "Can I help you with something?" I says, "O, I'm driving?" I replied, "Yeah, I'm the trainer and you're the trainee!" Which was kind of funny. He turned out to be a really nice guy. Because he was so eager to get in the passenger seat, I had him drive all day!
He was not very talkative, so I had to pepper him with questions. He served as a prison guard in state prison's and then in a federal prison. He said that he had just got tired of law enforcement and wanted a change. I think that they fired him because he was so fat! He probably weighted four-hundred pounds!
His driving was very good. We parted as friends. I'm glad that I had a trainee today. I only had seven loads of Freon this week with nothing extra. There is a big slowdown in the trucking industry. I got fuel at the Love's at Deer Park and at eleven in the morning the truck stop was already filling up. The Schneider yard was full of trucks and trailers. It's at times like these that I have a good dedicated run!
