Hello everyone. Praise the Lord!
Who said that Friday the thirteenth was an unlucky day! It was a good, but crazy day! It started off with my normal Freon load to Waller, TX. That went well, made a video for my YouTube Bible study.Got my return container for Monday. I stopped at the Love's at Deer Park for fuel, and to waste time because the Branch Fajitas lunch was schedules for 11;00.
I got to the yard and did some paperwork then went in the office. The dessert was out so I started with some chocolate cake. The John and the lady's brought out the real food. Fajitas with all of the trimming from Gringo's, a local Tex-Mex restaurant just down the street.
The food was awesome. I was so freaking full! Thank you John Hanford. Cole then gave me two trailers to pic up. His paperwork said Houston but it turned out to be in LaPorte. They have two locations in LaPorte, one on D street ant the one I needed to go to on 6th street.
I went to the first one which looked closed. One gate was open so I walked in and two Hispanic guys told me it was the other location. So I went there, off Barbour Cut road. I went in and talked to someone and he looked around and said that both trailers were just around the corner. I drove there and around the yard and couldn't see them.
That's because I was looking for nice looking trailers with company stickers and numbers on them. I asked another guy and he pointed them out to me. They both were old rusty nasty looking trailers with the stickers taken off. I could see where the numbers were. I guess that they were scrape trailers.
I took the junkiest one first. I was surprised that the brakes even released! I got to the corner of Hwy 146 and Barbour's Cut and the DOT just showed up and pulling in trucks! I thought crud, here I am pulling a junk trailer and the DOT shows up!
I make the corner, a bobtail is in front of me and a container hauler with an empty chassis behind me. The DOT officer looks at me then the guy behind me and he let's me pass and points at the guy behind me to pull in his inspection area. I can not breath again! I drop it on the yard and return.
I get the second trailer and make a right at the DOT corner to avoid the inspection area. Illegal, but you have to prove it. I get on Hwy 146 and Hwy 225, turn around at Sims road and go back, driving over the DOT check station!
