Bent Mud Flap

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I came to work this morning It was still dark and I did my normal walk around pre-trip trip inspection, of my truck and trailer. I don't look for any mechanical problems, just for flat tires and to see if anyone had hit me during the night.

I walked around the tractor and saw my mud flap all been up on the passenger side of the tractor! I just looked at it and could not believe it! The smoke lab is in between the truck and trailer. No one could have hit it.

At least that's what I thought but I looked around at the truck and trailer, there was no additional damage. Just that one mud flap all twisted up. After looking at the trailer, I did see some scrap marks on the front!

Apparently the trailer had met the mud flap when turning. Well I did a good walk around and we're parked yesterday afternoon. And I did not see the mud flap bent then. I guess I must have overlooked it, but I don't see how!

So those mud flaps pull out real easy. You just need to pull the cotter pin out, and lift up the mud flap. I got my little brass hammer and straightened out the cutter pin. Then knocked it out with the hammer. Pulled out the mud flap and walked it over to the dumpster and through it in.

After that I started my day and did my Freon loads to Waller, Texas. If the place had seen me I would have got ticket, but I'm old school, and don't have a problem during the dice. I did my two loads of Freon and got back to the yard and had them change it out.

It's no big deal, It's just mud flap. It just was not a big deal. I just took care of the situation myself and not the shop handle it at the end of the day. Sometimes, you got to do, what you got to do, to get on the road, and get to work and make your money for the day!

Do you make a big deal of everything or do you let things slide? Can you tell me about it in the comment section? If you enjoy these little stories about my work you can click the button at the top of the home page to follow it.
