You Just Have To Quit

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I called Adam Davis, at Trimac Transportation on a payroll issue. But since I had him on the phone, I asked him what I need to do to retire, after thirty-one years of service with the company.

He told me there was no option to retire, in that I would just have to quit!  I was a little dumbfounded, and taken aback by it! So, I just told him, "well okay if that's what I have to do." I was a little shocked by it! Quitting your job after six months is different than after thirty-one years!

I've told a few people about the response and everybody is shocked by it! Some people have told me the company should have a category for retirement. Some people say they have a big party when they retired. Some other got a gift. Others said it was very disrespectful.

Having a big party for retirement would be nice, but I'm not expecting that from them. I do find it very disrespectful that after thirty-one years of service I cannot get designated as retired. That I just have to quit, like some rookie would quit.

And the funny thing is that this company, and all other trucking companies, are always complaining about the driver shortage, and how they just can't find drivers that work for them. Well, here is a big reason here!

If you retired from your company how did they respond?  Can you share it with us in the comment section? If you enjoyed this story you can click on the "follow" button to catch all the stories in the future.
