Trucking Retirement

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

I was talking to Wiley Sutton, one of my coworkers here at Goodman manufacturing, in Waller Texas.  He was talking about his retirement with his brother.  His brother recommended that he get a CDL license again.

Wiley said that was a good idea. I said, "yeah there's lots of jobs that are seasonal in trucking.  You have your asphalt haulers, who haul during the summer.  Florida you have your orange juice haulers, And there are other kinds of seasonal trucking jobs out there for a retired guy.

Wow, Wiley then spent the next hour telling me old truck driver stores, from back in the day when he was a driver. Years ago Wiley used a haul milk out of Longview Texas. I've already told several of those stories here in this blog.

Wiley seem to like the idea of getting a CDL back, and driving the truck. He said he got a lot of work back in the day because he was able to drive very hard. Now Wiley is much older and probably can't drive that hard anymore. When you get older you just can't work like you did when you're younger!

But with Wiley's work experience he has a lot of options for part-time work, after he retires. In the economy that we have today, you need to have a part-time job after retirement!
