Hanging Out With Rudy

Hello everyone.  Praise the Lord!

Now that I am back on the board, Cole Nelson called me and wanted me to go with Rudy Horacek to Beaumont, TX, to pick up a tractor and bring it back to Bayport.

We both met up at four-in-the-morning and checked our mailboxes for paperwork, none was found!  So, we knew that we needed to pick up a tractor at the Beaumont yard. We got our coffee and headed to Beaumont, TX.

We had a great time driving there.  We were in Rudy's sleeper truck and so he was driving, and I was in the passenger seat.  That was good because I was very tired!  I didn't sleep very well last night!

That's Rudy in the picture above, he is getting very grey!  We got to the Beaumont yard before dawn and waited for the place to open.  We watched a few drivers walk to their trucks to start their day.

When the mechanic opened up the door, we walked in the drivers break room, you can see it in the picture above.  We sat there for a few hours and talked about old times.  We do go back twenty-eight years together.  Driving here Rudy talked about his Communist Border Guard days in Czechoslovakia.

We finally got the truck number.  The yard here had to fix the trailer that it was hooked up to.  The Lake Charles guy who drove it here somehow damaged the landing gear of the trailer.  So, before they could unhook the tractor from the trailer, they had to do some repairs.

I drove that tractor back to Bayport and Rudy drove his tractor.  When we got back I took a tractor to our Deep Park repair yard and Rudy brought me back.  With the delays, we got eight hour in today.  It was a nice day hanging out with Rudy and an easy day overall.

Did you have a day to hang out with an old friend?  Can you tell me about it in the comments section?
